It's in the magazines, it’s on the TV, but nobody shows you the person behind the screen. It started out small, but now it's taking over your brain. We were just kids hanging around the party scene at 17 but then it followed you home and you started to do it all alone. Now you’re throwing up and you’re popping pills. You’re skipping class and staying up all night. Your old friends have said their goodbyes, your habit has replaced them all. You’re not who you used to be. This is what they call progress. Is it how you thought it would be or did you not get that far? I'm guessing you didn't get that far. It's all chaotic now. You've done too many of the wrong drugs and you don't know how to stop. The beast has swallowed you whole. Your life is rotting away. The higher you get the lower you drop. Your parents have given up but I never gave up on you. You’re wondering how you got to this point.
